Team 1 |
Poole Wheelers |
Craig Weston |
A trackathon stalwart actualy this is the guy who gave us the idea. So when it hurts its Craig's fault. (Webmaster edit - yes but we'll blame Graham all the same). Craig is noted for his ability to shrug off injury. |
Graham Hurst |
Aaarrgh Graham it Hurts the coach "If it hurts its doing you good then" Graham works hard behind the scenes to help us get this event on the track. |
Adam Darcy Wykes |
Adam Super-Fast Wykes a Sprint champion of yesteryear we understand. These days he coaches others on the track but still capable of a useful turn of speed. |
Les Pick |
Super Les - what can we say about Les? Best thing is he is always there we sugest an event I'm up for that says Les the pace goes up riders drop off Les is still there. Les also takes the young guns under his guidance that is probably why Poole have such a number of fast young riders. |
Jamie Scott |
A new rider to us. Not sure if he has ridden the trackathon before - welcome to the happy band Jamie. |

Andy Phipps |
Andy rode our recent training session at Calshot so is well used to going round and round. He put in quit a quick time on the two lap test so should add to the team's success. |

Team 2 |
Dark Lord's Troopers |
Graham Hewson |
Back in the days when he could break evens for 10miles. Known as the dark lord for his ability to dream up painful cycling events for his unsuspecting mates to ride. The Dark Lord returns to receive a well deserved kicking from the rest of the team. ps he will be the old fart on the red line getting lapped. |
Paul Stewart |
Paul has been a Trackathon Stalwart from day 1. He works tirelessly behind the scenes to help get these events underway and somehow manages to twist more arms for sponsorship than anyone else. Not as fast as son Josh these days round the bottom of the track but up there on the blue line will pound in the miles constantly. |
Bill Joss |
Bill is a long distance rider seen here doing the Lands end to John'O'Groats E2E. Bill's other claim to fame is he had coffee with Magnus on a Flight to Sweden - he didn't say if it was Big Maggys coffee they where drinking. To demonstrate Bill's commitment to the ride he is risking the wrath of his daughter who is having her 30th Birthday on Sunday and if he misses the party we could all be in big trouble. (Webmaster edit: Errrrr...what's with the 'we' bit? It'll be the Dark Lord himself who'll be deep in the doo-dah.)

New Forest CC |
Andy Betteridge |
Andy is back for a 3rd year of torture (fun) - all for a good cause. He's taken his team's advice from last year and ditched the white shorts on health & safety grounds (although Neil did say he'd bring a pink skinsuit this year!) Andy's with Stu on the sprinters' convention approach to racing - so that's 2 of us in lots of trouble. |
Hugo Walters |
Charlie Stocker |
When not busy enjoying time with my gorgeous wife and 3 daughters, I like to wander out on my bike and pedal 'til my eyes bleed! |
Jamie Pope |
Mike Davies |
Mountain biker Mike made his 24hour debut in 2009, and since then has got hooked on this track cycling lark - regular sessions and a shiny bike quickly followed, and he's ready to step it up a level. |
Neil Gordon |
The teams Rouleur - previous tens and road rides have have been beaten into submission and 'Nelly' is again a valuable addition to the team. A real team player he'll be knocking a man size hole in the wind for the guys to follow. |
Steve Fisher |
Well.... where to start? Fat bloke on a bike? I am late 40's work as an engineer, and have returned to cycling in the last couple of years after a very long break (20 years). Nickname is 'fella'. |

Team Midland / Birmingham CC |
Olav Martin-Giles |
This year started slowish but certainly picked up mid season for a strong finish. I managed to achieve all my goals, sub-1 hour for 25 miles, & sub-23 mins for 10 miles. Let's hope the 24 hour is just as rewarding |
Richard Todd |
Returning for the fourth year of sleep deprivation. His role in life is to provide the techie input to Graham's wild schemes and develop the websites, Twitter feeds and webcams etc. Somehow lets himself get roped in as track manager, website updater, timekeeper and recorder. He really should know better at his age. |
Andrew Lloydlangston |
Colin Williamson |
Colin has been a lifetime cyclist since 1966 when he competed in the 1st ever GHS '10' as a schoolboy and the National Junior '25' in 1968. Despite a short 25 year gap to raise a family the calling returned some 15 years ago with the Hemel Hempstead CC which included excursions to the Alps to ride 2 versions of L'Etape including the year 2000 version on Mt Ventoux, only just escaping the mountain closure due to severe weather. More recently a regular of the Solihull CC evening time trial scene, both solo and as tandem pilot. AKA the puncture king, possibly due to some ability in the bike repair dept on club runs and being a serial bike tinkerer. Back to Calshot for a 2nd year, Colin will attempt this year's 24 hour without reference to the 'Kamikaze Kolin' spectacle of the previous event. |
Philip Todd |
Now a student, he is used to late nights and lack of sleep. However, he's now not used to riding a bike, so this could be a shock to the system. He has ridden each of these events and will be travelling down from Sheffield just to take part. Additionally, he will - once again - be assisting his dad with all the techie, website and track management stuff. |

Pete Varian |

Rob MacCulloch |

Josh Stewart |
Josh is a Trackathon Veteran however he also another example of what this is about. A young man currently studying at University . He is using the trackathon events as part of his business thesis (Probably unwise). Josh is young and strong, hard working and with spirit could be very fast on the ten lap timed section. |

Dave Le Grys |

George Crammond |
Currently studying at Southampton University and the reigning president of the University cycling club George has had a strong and ecclectic year of cycling, mixing touring through Europe with time trials, hill climbs and plenty of miles on the bash route. 24hrs on the track is the next logical step…obviously! |
Tim Wallis |
A recent graduate of medicine from Southampton University Tim Wallis has raced at the highest level as a junior, representing GB at many races. Recently he has been a very strong and active player in the Hampshire cycling scene and is always keen to bash some legs in if someone lays down the gauntlet – especially at 3am |
Lee Povey |
Ryan Weston |
Ryan another example of what this events about 3 yrs ago this young man had to drop off the Dark one's wheel in the first Trackathon today he is getting noticed at the highest levels at 17 yrs of age well into his career in insurance bright positive and incredably fast should be in the Poole sprinter team. |
Harrison Fielding |
Young Harrison is only 15 but what courage this young man has during a training session for this event he came down with a real crack. A most spetacular crash ! Not Harrison's fault but he got a ride in the ambulance to Hospital. Thankfully just bruised. Did this deter him? Not a bit. Another example of the fantastic young people we have and around the bottom of the track in the sprints so so fast. |
